Group term life insurance features low-cost life insurance for your family (children included), and is flexible enough to travel with you should you leave your job. Spouse coverage is up to $50,000, and overall coverage is up to four times your annual salary (capped at $200,000).

How We Can Provide Everyday Guidance

Group term life insurance offers low-cost life insurance policy with coverage that never decreases with age as long as your employment continues and premiums are paid. As mentioned above, it can provide coverage up to four times your annual salary (maximum limit of $200,000) and allows spouse coverage for up to $50,000. It covers all eligible children for one low monthly cost and travels with you if you leave your job or retire.

How to Enroll

Please complete the enrollment brochure and return it to your Gabor representative.

Eligibility

You are eligible for coverage if you are an active non-faculty employee working at least 30 hours each week or a faculty employee regularly appointed 75 percent or more. (This coverage is not available to temporary and seasonal employees, full-time members of the armed forces, leased employees and independent contractors).

  • Group Term Life insurance is available in units of $1,000, from a minimum of $25,000 up to a maximum of $200,000, but not to exceed four times your annual earnings.
  • During the Open Enrollment or during your first 60 days of employment, Evidence of Insurability will not be required
  • Evidence of Insurability may be required in certain situations. Please refer to the Group Life Certificate of Insurance for more information.
  • If Evidence of Insurability is required you would need to complete a Medical History Statement, which can be done online at our Electronic Evidence of Insurability (EEOI) web site. This process is an easy way to provide this information and only takes a few minutes. You may also complete, print and mail this Medical History Statement to Standard Insurance Company.

Dependents Life insurance for your spouse and/or children

If you elect Group Term Life insurance for yourself, you may also elect Dependents Life insurance for your spouse and child(ren). However, your spouse or children may not be full-time members of the armed forces.

Spouse

  • Dependents Life insurance is available in units of $1,000, from $1,000 to a maximum of $50,000, but not to exceed 100 percent of your Group Term Life coverage.
  • Evidence of Insurability may be required in certain situations. Please refer to the Group Life Certificate of Insurance for more information.
  • If Evidence of Insurability is required you would need to complete a Medical History Statement, which can be done online at our Electronic Evidence of Insurability (EEOI) web site. This process is an easy way to provide this information and only takes a few minutes. You may also complete, print and mail this Medical History Statement to Standard Insurance Company.

Children

  • You may elect $10,000 of Dependents Life insurance for your eligible children. This amount may not exceed 100 percent of your Group Term Life coverage. Child means your unmarried child from live birth through age 20 (through age 24 if a registered student in full-time attendance at an accredited educational institution).
  • All late applications are subject to medical underwriting approval. Please refer to the Group Life Certificate of Insurance for more information.
  • If Evidence of Insurability is required you would need to complete a Medical History Statement, which can be done online at our Electronic Evidence of Insurability (EEOI) web site. This process is an easy way to provide this information and only takes a few minutes. You may also complete, print and mail this Medical History Statement to Standard Insurance Company.
